This week, Real Madrid icon Kroos announced he would hang up his boots after Euro 2024 – sparking a deluge of tributes from fellow professionals, pundits, fans and more. Among the well-wishers was Al-Nassr star Ronaldo, who played alongside the German international at Real between 2014-18. The Portuguese legend said it was an "honour" to have been the 34-year-old's team-mate for a time and wished him the best for the future.

Kroos has enjoyed a glittering career, winning 10 trophies at Bayern Munich – including the Champions League in 2013 – and that success continued at Madrid, where he won 21 more major honours. Now he will look to finish his career on a high as Los Blancos try to win the Champions League for a record 15th time, while Germany attempt to triumph in Euro 2024 in their own backyard.

Kroos will play his last La Liga game on Saturday when Madrid take on Real Betis, before they lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1. His German side begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Scotland on June 14.
